About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Costa Mesa, Folks Pizzeria is a standout destination for pizza lovers craving an elevated yet authentically rustic dining experience. This cozy pizza restaurant at 2937 Bristol St a102 serves up naturally leavened dough pizzas that marry California-inspired flavors with traditional Italian craftsmanship, making each bite a delightful exploration of taste and texture.

Folks Pizzeria’s menu is a thoughtfully curated blend of bold, fresh ingredients and inventive combinations. The Soppressata Pizza, with its creamy sweet cream, green garlic, mozzarella, parmesan, and a scattering of fresh parsley, delivers an exquisite balance of richness and herbal brightness that lingers memorably on the palate. Meanwhile, the Fennel Sausage Pizza stands out with robust fennel pollen and salsa verde, vividly layered over sweet California tomatoes and creamy mozzarella—a perfect harmony of savory depth and fresh acidity.

Beyond pizza, the menu impresses with hearty and flavor-packed options such as the Meatballs bathed in Sunday gravy and topped with parmesan and chives, offering a comforting, deeply satisfying bite that warms the soul. Freshness is a hallmark here, as evidenced in the vibrant Chopped Salad featuring quinoa, avocado, and harissa-marinated olives, which provides a zesty, textural contrast to the rich entrées.

Visitors frequently commend the quality and originality of the dishes. Max Yeo highlights the “extremely fresh” ingredients and generous portions, noting that every flavor and texture was a revelation unique to Folks. Jessica Trejo’s praise for the perfectly burnt, chewy, and savory Fennel Sausage Pizza (especially with added pepperoni) echoes a repeated theme: the pizza here is a true labor of love that rewards patience and appreciation for craft.

Guests also appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and attentive service. Nick Su mentions how the staff graciously accommodated an early party despite a busy night, further enhancing the overall dining experience. The inviting space includes a charming outdoor seating area perfect for sunny Southern California days, while the interior offers a warm and comfortable environment that encourages lingering over every bite.

To round out your meal, be sure to try their Burnt Cheesecake, a decadent, slightly smoky dessert that leaves a lasting impression, or sip on one of their thoughtfully selected craft beers like the International Amore or Game of Thrones Wit. These beverages perfectly complement the layered flavors found throughout the menu.

If you find yourself in Costa Mesa and crave pizza that goes beyond the ordinary—where every ingredient sings, and every dish tells a story—Folks Pizzeria stands ready to deliver an unforgettable culinary adventure. Just be sure to plan ahead or embrace the bustling energy of a weekend crowd, as this local gem has rightly earned its spot among the area’s best.

Came on a Sunday at 12:15, had to circle the parking lot for 10 minutes before find a spot. They do have a valet parking area that was very empty. The food was amazing. Every ingredient was extremely fresh. The serving sizes are humongous. We got the Caesar salad, Meatballs, and sausage fennel pizza. I recommend all of them! Everything has a texture and flavor I haven’t experienced before in Orange County

We had a reservation for 8:30 PM but arrived about 30 minutes early. Even with a full house, the staff was able to accommodate our party of four, which we really appreciated. There is a cute outdoor seating area, but since the evening was a bit chilly, we chose to sit inside. We started with the bread and butter, and it was outstanding. The sourdough was warm, fresh, fluffy, and perfectly baked. The compound butter was so good that we asked for some to go. The Caesar salad was excellent as well. Very crisp, and the dressing was balanced and light instead of overwhelming. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and the mushroom truffle pizza. Both were delicious, but the truffle pizza was my personal favorite. The flavor was rich and earthy, and it paired beautifully with their sourdough base. This is easily the best sourdough pizza I have had. Food gets a 5 out of 5, service gets a 4.5 out of 5, and ambiance gets a 4 out of 5. It is a little cramped inside, but still energetic and enjoyable. A wonderful experience overall. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

It's such an amazing pizza restaurant! we got a fennel sausage pizza with added pepperoni. it was phenomenal. perfectly burnt, chewy, crispy, and savory! I would recommend making reservations unless you don't mind waiting an hour or so to get seated. It's a bit pricey for a single pizza, but it's still very delicious! I would also suggest their cherry bomb beer

What a flippin’ cool pizza spot. It’s been a while since I came through this area and I loved how the entire area had so much going on. The pizza restaurant was a bit tucked away from the parking lot but that meant we got to explore the rest of the shops a bit on the way to the yum. We had a reservation and the staff got us squared away when only part of our party was present. All in all the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable of the ins and outs. They gave a bunch of recommendations that turned out well. The pizza was amazing as expected but what really stood out was the crust. It was thinner and chewier than other pizzas which was a nice change. While all the pizzas were great, I think the classic margherita was perfect in every bite.

Costa Mesa has plenty of great food spots, but Folks is definitely at the top of the list. The vibe is great, the staff is super cool, and the food is delicious. The wings were just okay, but the Caesar salad was fresh and really good. We added pepperoni, sausage, and onions to our pizza, making it a true meat lover’s and it turned out phenomenal. We grabbed a cheesecake to go, and honestly, it was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had.

We went to Folks on a Wednesday afternoon. We made a reservation for 5:15, reservations are recommended so we abided. We were a bit early only a few tables were filled but , I figured there is a reason for recommending a reservation. BOY was I right, the place filled up in 30 to 45 minutes ! Make a reservation, it’s good for everyone involved. Now, on to the service and food. We were greeted by Hector who was then also our waiter. Hector is incredibly knowledgeable about Folks’ menu. We asked question about the menu and got great answers. We asked what he would recommend and took his recommendations as our dinner. We started out with the meatballs and the beautiful home made bread served with it. The sauce on the meatballs is this incredible smokey yet silky bowl of awesomeness. When the meatballs came out we met Maxwell. He’s just an incredibly nice, friendly person who seems to do it all in the kitchen. He was plating food, running it out of the kitchen and doing a dozen things at once. Folks has a window the length of the kitchen so you can watch everything as it was happening. If Folks was an orchestra, Maxwell would be the conductor and he excelled at his craft. Our second course was pizza. We orders 2. A margarita and a pepperoni. Both came out with that beautiful, charred bottom. A lovely sauce, perfectly cheesed and a slightly thicker than NY style. Being born & raised in Brooklyn, I have very high expectations for pizza. Folks exceeded those expectations !! We weren’t going to have dessert. Hector, bless his heart, recommended the “burnt” cheesecake. Oh My !!! Super light and airy and just deliciousness on a plate !! Thank you Hector !! Thank you Maxwell !! You turned “pizza night” into a most enjoyable experience. We will be back soon. 1/2 of each pizza did manage to find its way home with us.

Pizza is good. The bread and butter was okay, but would’ve been much better with just plain, salted butter. They use a yogurt-butter of some kind and we didn’t prefer the flavor. I’d suggest you ask to swap for regular butter before submitting the order.

Whenever we're in Costa Mesa, The CAMP is our go-to spot. We always start with a wine tasting at the Wine Lab—super laid-back and a great place to try something new without the pressure. Then it's over to Folks Pizza for some of the best food around. My favorites are the Caesar Salad and Meatballs—both are seriously delicious! And the pizza? Always amazing. Great flavors, great crust, and made with real care. The whole vibe at The CAMP is just awesome—great food, great wine, great atmosphere.
